Old school hotel where you feel like a king with polite staff helping you in any way possible
The decoration of the hotel is very western traditional and also very fine and elegant. Breakfast has a very Austrian feel with Mozart/Beethoven and Bach music accompanying your every bite. The food itself in the restaurant is delicious - I actually liked the preset meals that you can choose, because everything was done to perfection with utmost attention to detail. The rooms were very comfortable. Even though it was pretty cold outside we felt very warm and cozy in our rooms, probably the best in 5 accommodations we've been in Japan so far.
The interior of the rooms is a bit aged, you can see this in the bathroom, but everything still pretty good and clean.

Expensive for what it is, but what it is, is Karuizawa - a tourist hot spot.

A single Queen bed isn't big enough for a family with a 4 yr old child. Amenities rather old, but I guess it suits the vintage aesthetics.
